797-HP Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Ushers In Updated Range

Following yesterday’s teaser, Dodge has fully revealed the 2019 Challenger and Challenger SRT Hellcat models. A lot is happening with the muscle family, as the automaker is happy to introduce “the most powerful, quickest, and fastest muscle car”: the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.
Jumping directly into Demon territory, the new range-topper features the most powerful production V8 engine with 797 horsepower (594 kilowatts) and 707 pound-feet (958 Newton-meters) of torque. It is the same engine that powers the Demon, a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with an upgraded torque converter that delivers an 18-percent increase in torque multiplication.

Dodge says the V8 engine has 25 major component upgrades, including a larger supercharger (claimed to be the largest factory supercharger with a volume of 2.7 liters), strengthened connecting rods and pistons, high-speed valve train, fuel injection system, and improved lubrication system.

This powerful setup provides impressive acceleration from a standstill: 60 miles per hour (0-96 kilometers per hour) happens in just 3.4 seconds en route to an incredible top speed of 203 mph (327 kph).

Interestingly, at full throttle, the car consumes 1.43 gallons per minute (5.4 liters per minute) of fuel, enough to drain the fuel tank in just under 11 minutes.

The new Redeye range-topper actually heralds the most powerful Challenger SRT Hellcat lineup ever. It is joined by the 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat, which now boasts 717 hp (535 kW) and 656 lb-ft (890 Nm) of torque.

For 2019, the Challenger SRT Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack models will be also available with the Widebody Package introduced in 2018. It brings wider fender flares by 3.5 inches for a more muscular appearance, which can be combined with a new Satin Black spoiler. As standard, 2019 SRT Hellcat models come with 20-inch lightweight performance wheels, while vehicles equipped with the Widebody Package will get wider 305/35ZR20 Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Production of the revised Challenger lineup will begin at Dodge’s Brampton Assembly Plant this fall, with deliveries scheduled to kick off in the fourth quarter of the year.
